20 Minute Total Body HIIT Fat Burn: Stress Busting Workout

Standard

Hi Everyone!

It’s workout time! We have a brand new 20-Minute HIIT Boot Camp workout for you! Jesse is doing this workout with you, so be prepared to have some fun during the workout. I was having a hard time not laughing behind the camera (a few times I couldn’t hold it back!)

Jesse had a rough and stressful day, and really didn’t feel like working out. Then the tired hit before he could start the workout and he REALLY didn’t feel like exercising! What’s the best remedy for a stressful day? What is a great energy booster? That’s right! Exercise. So guess what….he did it anyway. The truth is that we all have days when we just aren’t motivated to workout, but doing it anyway helps you stay consistent and that is when you get results.

Tired before the workout.

Tired before the workout.

Jesse felt so much better after his workout: his energy was better, and his mood improved too. It helped him work off the stress of his day so we was able to enjoy the rest of his evening. If he had skipped his workout he would have had that hanging over his head too, like another unchecked item on his “to do” list.

Happy Post Workout!

Jesse: Happy Post Workout! Or is that Tom Cruise? 😉

Today’s workout uses dumbbells, and a balance trainer (Bosu). If you don’t have the Bosu no worries, he just used it to amp up the intensity and core training of his pushups, but you can do them from the floor. If you don’t have dumbbells you can grab something from around the house to add some resistance (like a water bottle). The resistance will help activate your muscles and increase the challenge.

I taught a 60-minute Yoga class last night, and I am presenting at a wellness fair today. I hope you guys enjoy today’s workout! It’s a really great routine! Let me know what you think in the comments below or on Social Media.

Have fun!

23 Minute Total Body Workout: No Equipment-Body Weight Workout

Standard

Hi Everyone!

Are you ready to have a good week? I know I am! Last week my workout schedule imploded a bit. Things went wonky and I just couldn’t fit everything in. As a brand new mom I am still adjusting to some of the schedule changes.

My son is a great sleeper at night, but his nap schedule is not as solid yet. I did some thing yesterday to make life easier on myself during the week. I meal prepped a ton of chicken (Jesse actually cooked it, I just told him what I needed), and a bought a bunch of frozen steamable vegetables. My goal was to make cooking this week easier on myself, and less time consuming. It will also help me stay on track with making healthy food choices.

I have blog topics I want to write about, fitness success stories I want to share, and workout videos I want to film. Being a mom is a 24-hour job, and sometimes getting those things checked off on my list, along with all the around the house stuff just becomes too much to realistically fit into a day. Slowly, but surely I am figuring it out.

My BodyRock Mom workout will be live today at 2PM eastern on Facebook. If you want to sign up for notifications you can do so here: http://www.bodyrock.tv/bodyrockmom/signup. Maverick has his doctor appointment for his 4-month checkup today, so hopefully he is in a good mood during the workout!

I hope you enjoy today’s workout. It’s a full body routine. My goal is to film a new workout today, but if I can’t I will be doing this workout and aiming for 20-reps per exercise. Remember, go at your own pace. Pause the video if you need too & pick the number of reps that is right for you.

I also posted the playlist for the Booty Sculpt Challenge below, so be sure to check out today’s move!

12-Minute: Quick Total Body Sculpting HIIT Workout

Standard

Hi Everyone!

It’s workout time! Today’s workout is a 12-Minute HIIT that will work your entire body. I also posted a cardio video below for an added burn. As always, you can repeat this workout to make it more intense, while having it fit into your schedule.

I posted two cardio workout options below. You can pick the one that is most appealing, or even do all three videos together. I am a day behind on the 30-Day Move challenge, so I will be posting two challenge moves today. I apologize for that, I was not feeling well yesterday & I took the day fully off, and did a whole lot of nothing. I just focused on playing with and taking care of my son.

img_5379

During today’s workout focus on form. Form is always important, but I really want you to emphasize it when you use weights. Use a weight that challenges you, but that you can maintain your form with for each exercise. I used two 12-lb dumbbells during this workout.

img_5381

I hope you enjoy this workout! Maverick had perfect timing when I filmed, and woke up for the very end of the workout. I will say, getting in my workouts around his schedule can certainly be a challenge! That is the great thing about having the option of quick workouts. You can make time for 12-Minutes. I only got in one round of this workout, plus a 2-mile walk with the baby, but it was still a good workout. Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t get in multiple rounds of a workout every day. Just make sure you are doing something!

I will have more recipes to share with you. I will post them as soon as I have a chance!

16-Minute Total Body HIIT Workout: No Equipment, Fat Burning Body Weight Exercises

Standard

Hi Everyone!

It’s workout time! Are you ready for a great Total Body HIIT Workout? You don’t need any equipment for this one, but you will definitely feel the workout!

I especially liked the Side Plank L-Lifts. They are a tough exercise, so if they become too intense, hold your side plank. I do encourage you to try for as many reps of the full exercise as possible. Also, in the video I accidentally skipped one exercise and added it to the end. So when I say “This is the last exercise” there is actually one more move.

I actually filmed this workout as a tutorial only video about 5-years ago, with my friend and special guest, Cydney. Originally, I did this workout for reps:

Level 1: 10 Reps
Level 2: 15 Reps
Level 3: 20 Reps

You can choose to do it for Reps or as an Interval Workout with me. Or, you can aim to do one round of each. I used some different movement variations in this workout. You can scroll through the video before you get started to check out the exercises if you aren’t sure what they are.

I also posted the Day 2 Booty Sculpt Challenge Move of the Day below. I did two sets of 20 Reps in addition to the 16-Minute Total Body HIIT workout. I intended to get in 3 sets, but I got busy and forgot. I will be posting each Move of the Day here: https://www.benderfitness.com/30-day-booty-sculpt-move-of-the-day-challenge. I will have the Day 3 Exercise posted today.

My total workout yesterday was:

1-Round of today’s workout.
3.6 Mile Run Outside
2 Sets of 20 Elevated Single Leg Squat

Can you believe he's almost 4 months old already!?!

Can you believe he’s almost 4 months old already!?!

Tomorrow my son will be 4-months old. It’s amazing how many skills he has learned in this relatively short period of time. I feel so much stronger than I did when I first started back to working out when I was 6-weeks postpartum.

I hope you enjoy today’s workout!

30-Minute HIIT: Total Body Workout & Fat Burn

Standard

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are ready for an AWESOME Total Body Workout! Today’s workout is a little bit longer, and it will give you a great full body burn. Be sure to warm up before the workout to maximize the intensity and results.

Can you believe that we are celebrating 5-Years of BenderFitness workouts?!? Over the past 5-years we have built such a strong fitness community. We have shared over 700 different workout videos here on our blog, and on our Youtube Channel. We have worked out with you through Graduate School, Fitness Competitions, Races, Working Full Time, my Pregnancy & the Birth of our Son, and most recently with my Postpartum Workout Journey.

Each and every one of you that joins us for a workout is part of Team Bender.

In a Facebook Live video I asked what we should do to celebrate 5-years of Fitness, and someone suggested that having Jesse and I on video together would be a great way to celebrate! We agreed!

It was definitely a team effort. My mom came over to watch Maverick, and our friend came over to man the camera. We made it to the last two minutes of the workout before Maverick decided that he was hungry so we had to stop filming briefly so I could feed him, and jump back into the end of the workout. It was so much fun though! I really enjoy working out with Jesse and all of you at the same time!

maverick-playing-on-his-mat-oct-27

Maverick is a Happy Baby during Tummy Time!

I also want to feature some success stories from you guys as a way to celebrate 5-years of BenderFitness. If you want to share you photos/stories please e-mail me at FitnessBender@gmail.com with the topic BenderFitness Success Story. The truth is, without all of you, and the hard work you put in every day we wouldn’t be where we are today with this website. You keep us motivated to put in all of the hard work behind the scenes and in front of the camera.

Thank you to each and every one of you for working out with us! We are sending virtual hugs from our family to yours.

I hope you enjoy today’s workout!

20-MINUTE FULL BODY EQUIPMENT FREE WORKOUT (BODY WEIGHT)

Standard

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you are ready for another workout! I posted two workout options below for you. The first is a 20-Minute Full Body No Equipment Workout. I actually filmed that one when I was about 13-weeks pregnant! It’s a great full body workout though, just be sure to push through it. I was pacing myself during the workout to be sure I didn’t over do it.

The second video is the Stability Ball: Butt & Belly workout I posted last week. I really liked that one, and it actually made my core a little bit sore so I know I was hitting some muscles in there that needed the work. You can choose one, or pair them together for today’s workout.

Our Workout Week so Far:

Workout 1: 15 Minute Plyo HIIT Workout: Burn Fat Fast
Workout 2: Standing Workout: Full Body Workout with Dumbbells or 30-Minutes Cardio of Choice

As you guys know, Maverick has had his first cold, so I haven’t been filming new workouts for the past few days. He is feeling much better so we will be filming today. In fact, Jesse and I are filming a workout together this evening! It will be fun to have both of us in front of the camera and working out with you.

melissa-and-maverick-love

Yesterday I wasn’t able to do a full, formal workout because I was taking care of the baby. I challenged myself to get in more general activity/steps per hour throughout the day. I also did 10 Warrior Deadlifts per leg with two 20-pound dumbbells, and 10 Romanian Deadlifts with my barbell (75 pounds total) and I got in a run. Jesse cooked dinner and took care of the baby so I could get on the treadmill. I ran 4-Miles, and it felt amazing! I have only been running with the stroller, in our insanely hilly neighborhood, so it felt good to let my legs move a little bit faster.

I originally planned to do the whole run as a steady state cardio at 8:30, thinking that would be challenging enough for me because I have been averaging between 9:30 and 10:05 minute/mile pace on my runs with the baby. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 8:30 pace (7.0 speed on the treadmill) felt easy. I progressed my paces during the run, worked up a great sweat, and felt fantastic the whole time. It’s amazing how much I love running now. When I first started I despised it, and stuck through it out of pure stubbornness only.

post-run-sweat

The run was 4-miles total, and I progressed the speed on my treadmill from 7.0 to 8.0 by the end of the run. So the speed ranged from 8:30 min/mile to 7:30 min/mile. The whole run took me 32 minutes and 14 seconds.

I also have good news on the Patreon front! I mentioned the other day that my entire page was accidentally deleted and all pledges were deleted. It looks like they were able to restore the pledges that were previously made to help support BenderFitness and get us new equipment. If you want to help (even $1 per month helps! If everyone who used BenderFitness contributed $1/month we would be able to dedicate ourselves to blogging full time, plus have a great filming team) you can do so here: https://www.patreon.com/BenderFitness.

I hope you enjoy today’s workout!

Standing Workout: Full Body workout with Dumbbells

Standard

Hi Everyone!

I have an awesome Full Body Standing Dumbbell Workout for you today. You don’t have to get down on the floor at all during this routine, but the weights add a great challenge. This workout will work your arms, back, core, butt, and legs. A little bit of everything.

If you don’t have dumbbells you can either grab something from around your house to add some weight to your workouts, or complete the exercises with body weight. Adding resistance will help improve the workout burn.

Maverick has a cold. He slept a lot better last night (his stuffiness made it a rough night for him the day before). He is still asleep as I type this, but I am hoping he feels better today. As long as he is feeling better I will be filming a new workout today (and it will be up for tomorrow). If he isn’t feeling better I will get a throwback workout posted for tomorrow too.

Even with a cold he smiles when I sing to him.

Even with a cold, Maverick smiles when I sing to him.

On Wednesday evening we are doing something special. To celebrate our 5-year blogging anniversary Jesse and I will be filming a workout video together! I asked during one of my Facebook Live videos what you guys thought we should do to celebrate, and a workout with both of us in the video was on of the suggestions. Special shout-out to Lisbeth for the idea! My mom has agreed to come over and watch the baby, and one of our friends is going to do the filming for us. We have a great team effort to make this happen!

I also have good news on the Patreon front! I mentioned the other day that my entire page was accidentally deleted and all pledges were deleted. 35 Minute Total Body Workout & Cardio HIIT Fat Burn: Home Workout

Standard

Hi Everyone!

It has been a busy day in the Bender household! We got a lot done today, including this 35 Minute Full Body Workout Routine. I included the warm-up and cool down in the video. I will also be uploading the different segments separately. I still need to edit those videos before I can post them. The baby was incredibly patient today during filming. He does make a guest appearance during the Cool Down portion of the video.

I hope you like the longer workout today. You can still repeat it if you are up for it. I went through it 1X today.

I also did my 10-Sun Salutations this morning while Maverick had playtime on his mat. I posted the Sun Salutation video below for anyone who is following along.

I also took Maverick out for two walks today. I had some errands to run close by and it was gorgeous (80 degrees F today!) so we walked to get those done. When Jesse came home from work he wanted to go for a family walk so we did that together.

All in all, it was a wonderful and productive day. I hope you enjoy the workout!

15 MINUTE HIIT: QUICK FULL BODY WORKOUT

Standard

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you have had a great weekend so far! Are you ready to start this weekend off strong? I know I am! I planned on filming on Friday, but I was called in to work so I wasn’t able to get a new video done. There is a Quick, 15-Minute Per Round Full Body HIIT Workout video posted below.

Jesse had a Half Marathon yesterday. He did fantastic! The photos below are of him racing to the finish line. He was able to do negative splits for the race. That means that as the race progressed into the later miles, his speed increased. So his last several miles were his fastest. Running, especially for longer distances has a lot to do with running strategy so you can maximize your performance. You have to know what your body is capable of, and be in control of your running speed and form throughout the race.

jesse-half-marathon-bc jesse-half-marathon-bc-2016

I have to admit: I had race envy. This is my favorite race of the year, so it was weird watching it instead of running it. Although, I will say it was wonderful watching Jesse run and cross the finish line! Jesse took Maverick up to the rewards ceremony with him as he collected his medal. I plan to be back running this race next year. It’s been really tough getting in my runs.

I will be filming a new workout tonight, and my newest BodyRock Mom workout will be Live on Facebook tomorrow at 2PM eastern. In the mean time you can do the workout below.

Have fun with this one!

15 Minute Full Body Toning Workout

Standard

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to today’s Full Body Workout! Are you ready to get in a quick workout for your entire body? Today’s workout is comprised of three sections:

  1. Thigh & Butt Sculpt
    2. Core Sculpt
    3. Arm & Back Sculpt

You can choose to do each section on it’s own by clicking on the links above, or do the full length workout video as it is posted below. Each portion of the workout will take 5-minutes, so total workout time for the full length workout is 15-Minutes per Round.

All you need are two dumbbells, and a chair or other sturdy surface that you can put your foot up on. Breaking the workout up into segments made it much easier for me to film around my son’s napping schedule. Let me know if it makes it easier/more convenient for you to have the shorter workout options in addition to the full length workout. I will be checking the comments for your thoughts!

We are working hard to improve BenderFitness and make our workouts as user friendly as possible! Thanks for working out with us!

18 Minute HIIT Fat Burn: Cardio Blasting Full Body Sculpt Workout

Standard

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re ready to work up a sweat! Today’s workout takes 18-Minutes per Round, and will work your ENTIRE body! Are you ready?

As a reminder, my new workout challenge starts this Sunday, with brand new workouts! It will be a 6-week workout program. I am also hosting a DietBet Challenge: www.DietBet.com/BenderFitness. If you are looking to lose weight, and you like the chance to win money you should check it out! The goal is to lose 4% of your body weight over the course of 4-weeks. Everyone who wins splits the bet money in the jackpot! I will be giving away TWO free entries to my Dietbet on my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/melissabenderfitness

Be sure to warm-up before today’s workout, and cool down after the workout. For a warm-up you should do 5-10 minutes of dynamic exercises (jump rope, jumping jacks, jogging, leg swings, etc) to get your body warm & ready to work at a high level of intensity. The warm-up will actually help you increase your calorie burn during the workout.

For your cool down, be sure to do some gentle jumping jacks, or jogging in place to let your heart rate calm down. Then you can finish with some stretching.

This workout is a fantastic cardio burning and muscle sculpting routine. I used two 15-pound dumbbells. You can choose whatever amount of weight is appropriate for you, or perform the exercises with body weight only. The weights do increase the intensity & burn, so I definitely recommend using them if they are available.

Here are links to some healthy recipe ideas for the week:

Full Body: Lean Muscle Stretch & Fat Burn: 20 Minute No Equipment Workout

Standard

Hi Everyone!

Today’s workout is a different type of challenge! It utilizes movements that require strength and stretches your muscles at the same time. This is a great way to build lean muscle while maintaining your flexibility. I also incorporated cardio bursts throughout the workout to keep your heart rate up and burn fat.

I found this routine challenging, and I hope you do too! Push yourself throughout to do the most reps you can with good form. With workouts you get out what you put in, so you really want to challenge yourself. The goal is to challenge your body, work up a sweat, and increase your heart rate.

Flexibility is important for all of your workouts because it allows you to utilize your full range of motion during every exercise you do. This means you are using your muscles more fully during each exercise. This workout utilizes each plane of motion to help you achieve muscular balance and strength throughout your body, while maintaining bio-mechanical alignment.

My new workout program, with brand new videos starts Sunday August 21st, and my dietbet weightless challenge starts Monday August 22nd: www.dietbet.com/benderfitness.

Have fun!

20-Minute HIIT, Shred & Shape: Full Body Workout & Cardio Burn

Standard

Hi Everyone!

Are you ready for today’s workout? It’s a 20-Minute per round HIIT workout. This one will give you a great cardio burn, while simultaneously shaping and strengthening your muscles. Grab a pair of dumbbells and get ready to sweat!

As you go through this workout remember to push yourself to get in your maximum number of repetitions. HIIT is great because it can be adjusted for all levels, but you get out what you put in. If you need to rest during any interval that’s okay, but get back into it as quickly as you can.

Today’s workout is a throwback. It’s actually Day 6 from my Original 30-Day Workout Challenge. If you haven’t checked out the challenge yet you should!

My new workout challenge, with BRAND NEW workout videos will be starting on Sunday August 21st. My DietBet Weight Loss Challenge starts on Monday August 22nd & you can sign up here: www.dietbet.com/BenderFitness.

Have fun with today’s workout! I have my follow up appointment with the GI doctor today (which I have had to prep for with a liquid diet-yuck!), and I am hoping he gives me the all clear. I am feeling so much better than I did last week! It feels so amazing to be well again after being in the hospital. Never, ever take your health for granted. It’s one of the most precious gifts that you have, and exercise & wellness help to protect that gift.

See you soon,
Melissa

15 Minute Cardio HIIT Body Sculpt: No Equipment Workout

Standard

Hi Everyone,

I hope you’re ready for today’s workout! This is a great 15-Minute Cardio Body Sculpt Workout that will get you burning fat and boosting your metabolism in no time! Be sure to push for maximum reps and intensity to really feel the burn!

I filmed this workout early in the first trimester of my pregnancy. If you are pregnant it is important to review your exercise program with your physician. They know your pregnancy best, and they are the ones that can help you decide what type of program is safe for you. Be sure to review: Working Out in the First Trimester of Pregnancy: What You Need to Know.

I am now almost 5-Weeks Postpartum. I have been suffering some medical issues that are unfortunately common after pregnancy, and my doctor has recommended that I have my gallbladder removed. I was in and out of the hospital this week due to intense abdominal pain. It was so intense I could barely walk, move, or pick up my newborn son. I almost had an emergency appendectomy last Tuesday, but they were only 50% sure that was the problem so I declined the operation, but by Thursday night I was back to the ER and admitted to the hospital.

After a lot of testing they found that although my gallbladder looks normal on ultrasound and has no stones, it is functioning with only 8% ejection fraction (the low end of normal is 35%). To make matters worse I also had an impaction in my large intestine and swelling of the terminal ilius, so my pain was diffuse and made diagnosing the problem more difficult. I have to schedule follow up testing with a GI doctor this week, as well as my gallbladder surgery. I am hopeful that now that they have identified the issues I can truly be on the road to recovery, but I am feeling much better today. It’s also the first time since last Wednesday that I have eaten any solid foods, and so far I am feeling good!

Thank you all for checking in on me throughout this process. I can’t wait to be healthy and healed again! So far we are still on track for my new workout program to begin Sunday August 21st, and my new DietBet Challenge to start Monday August 22nd. If you want to sign up for the weight loss challenge you can do so here: www.dietbet.com/benderfitness.

Have fun with today’s workout and be sure to push a little extra for me because I really wish I was well and healed enough to workout with you!

Melissa

Hi everyone. I went MIA again, because I was admitted to the hospital on Thursday. My abdominal pain came back. It turns out it’s not my appendix (thank God I didn’t accept that surgery on Tuesday!) They are recommending that I have my gallbladder removed and see a GI doctor for further testing. I am home now and on a liquid diet (jello, broth, juice) until the pain gets more manageable. I am grateful to be surrounded by such love and support by my family and friends (my niece, Olivia, gave me gentle snuggles to be sure not to touch my belly). This has been very challenging, not only due to extreme pain, but because I am not used to being so physically helpless. Hopefully we have identified the problem and I can be on the road to recovery now. 😊 Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers, and I appreciate everyone who took the time to comment to see how I am doing. #BenderFitness #roadtorecovery

20 Minute Full Body Workout: HIIT It, Sweat It, Sculpt It

Standard

Hi Everyone!

Are you ready for a great workout? One round of this routine takes 20 minutes.

This workout can be performed with body weight, or you can increase the intensity by adding weights.

I used a barbell (total weight 75 lbs), and two dumbbells (20 lbs each). Remember, the number one focus is always form. Choose a weight that you can use while consistently maintaining form, that is still challenging for you. When you are lifting or setting down your weights be sure to keep the core tight and the back straight. Always protect your back!

If you don’t want to use a weight you can substitute cardio bursts of your choice during the 30 second intervals. Some great options are: jump rope, jumping jacks, high knees, mountain climbers or froggers.

Let me know if you are trying this workout (and what you think!) in the comments below, or on Facebook: @MelissaBenderFitness, Instagram or Twitter: @BenderFitness. You can find Jesse on Instagram: @BenderCrosby1

I can’t wait to be back working out with you! My new program starts Sunday August 21st. 🙂 See you soon!

Kick It Up a Notch: 15-Minute HIIT-Full Body Home Workout & Fat Burn

Standard

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re ready for today’s workout! It’s quick, but very effective. One round of this workout takes 15 minutes, but it can be repeated up to 3X. This is a very dynamic routine, with plenty of kicking, punching and jumping. As with all of your workouts you get out, what you put in. So focus on form, and committing to the full range of motion for each movement. Listen to your body, but push yourself through the workout.

Jesse and I were out of town for the weekend, and I couldn’t get my computer connected to the internet in our hotel! It threw off my plans for weekend posting, but I did share links to two workouts on my Facebook page over the weekend.

Workout 1: Ultimate Body Weight Workout

Workout 2: 19-Minute HIIT Fat Burning Workout

We had a great trip. Maverick handled the car ride, hotel stay, and eating in restaurants like a champ. I can’t believe he is 4-weeks old today!

A few things you may not know about me, I am obsessed with elephants, I love coffee, and I am a total Comic Book/Superhero Nerd. Our trip was to the Columbus Comicon. Everyone was so nice to us and raved about Maverick & we had a lot of fun. We met Ian Somerholder from Vampire Diaries (I loved the books way back in the day when they originally came out & I am hooked on the show now), Amy Jo Johnson (the original Pink Power Ranger), and Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) came up to us to talk to us about how cute Maverick is.

Maverick's first comicon

One of the highlights of the show was running into one of our BenderFitness workout buddies!

As a reminder, my new workout program with all new workout videos is scheduled to start on Sunday August 21st. On Monday August 22nd, my new DietBet challenge is starting: www.dietbet.com/BenderFitness. It’s a weight loss challenge where you bet $25 that you can lose 4% of your body weight in 4-weeks. To figure out 4% of your body weight you multiple your current weight by .04, and that is the amount you would be aiming to lose. All of the bets are put in a pot, and the money is split by the winners (everyone who hits the 4% goal) at the end of the game.

I hope you guys enjoy today’s workout! I can’t wait to be physically working out with you again, instead of just in spirit!

15 Minute HIIT Interval Workout: Body Weight

Standard

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re ready for today’s HIIT workout! This is a body weight workout, but you will need a chair or bench for a few exercises. Something sturdy that won’t move if you sit on it, or put your feet on it will work!

As always, go for maximum repetitions, while maintaining good form. You never want to sacrifice form for speed, or you won’t be optimizing the results of your workout.

So far this week our workout schedule has been:
Day 1: Full Body Pilates Core Workout with Special Guest: Sean Vigue
Day 2: 20 Minute Boot Camp HIIT: Body Weight Workout
Day 3: Core and Cardio
Day 4: Leg & Thigh Toning Workout
Day 5: 15 Minute HIIT Interval Workout-That’s today!

A reminder: My BRAND NEW workout series will be starting Sunday August 21st. I decided to run another DietBet Challenge for those of you looking to lose some weight. I have hosted a few DietBet challenges in the past, and people had fantastic results. Basically how it works: you place a bet ($25) that you can lose 4% of your bodyweight over the course of 4 weeks. Everyone’s bet is put into a “pot.” Everyone who hits the goal of losing 4% splits the pot at the end of the game.

There is a photo weigh in (which is private unless you choose to share it) at the start and conclusion of the game. The game will start Monday August 22nd and run until September 18th. You can weigh in/out two days before/after the game. It’s never to early to sign up: www.dietbet.com/BenderFitness

Have fun with today’s workout!

20 Minute Boot Camp HIIT: Body Weight Workout

Standard

Hi Everyone!

It’s time for another Boot Camp Workout! This is a full body routine. The only equipment you need is a chair, bench, or other sturdy surface for a few exercises. This is another workout that Jesse and I taught in our group boot camp class. We teach a 60-Minute class, so there is a warm-up, we do two rounds of this workout with a short water break in between, and finish with a cool down.

For a warm up you should always do something dynamic (moving) to get your blood flowing, and gently elevate your heart rate. Walking, jogging, jump rope, and jumping jacks. As part of our warm-up we also teach each exercise to the class, and have everyone try out a few reps of each movement. It serves the duel purpose of warming up the body, and making sure everyone is familiar with the exercises.

We have some great workouts on the agenda for this week. Yesterday was a Full Body Pilates workouts with Sean Vigue. You can find it here: Full Body Pilates with Core Strengthening Emphasis. It is a great and challenging workout routine.

My new workout program will begin on Sunday August 21st. It will be brand new workouts. I will be 100% cleared for postpartum exercise. I am feeling better every day. I am three weeks postpartum today.

Postpartum Progress Photo taken three days ago.

I want to say a big thank you to everyone for their well wishes, kind words, and support as I recover. To say I am madly in love with my baby is an understatement. I am just ridiculously happy & enjoying my time off of work with him. He slept through Jesse and I filming this workout.

Full Body Pilates Core Workout with Special Guest: Sean Vigue

Standard

Hi Everyone!

It’s workout time, and I am super excited to have Special Guest Sean Vigue back with a brand new workout for you all! He is starting out our workout week with a Full Body Pilates workout, with a special emphasis on the Core.

Get ready for a great workout! This is another one that will be on my “To Try” list as soon as I have my 6-week Postpartum doctor’s appointment to clear me for exercise again! Speaking of which, I plan on starting my new workout program on Sunday August 21st. So mark your calendar if you haven’t already and plan on getting started with a brand new BenderFitness workout series as I re-build my strength, fitness, and endurance postpartum.

Sean and I have collaborated together in the past:

You can find our 20-Minute Cardio Core Workout HERE and our 20-Minute Plyometric Pilates Fitness Fusion Workout HERE.

Sean is a best selling author of  Power Yoga for Athletes on sale from Fair Winds Press or buy it wherever books are sold including Barnes and Noble. You can find his youtube channel here: youtube.com/motleyfitness. I definitely recommend subscribing to his channel, and I personally own, and enjoyed his Power Yoga for Athletes book. He puts out quality workouts consistently & keeps you entertained while he does it. Plus, he has a really cute dog that likes to make appearances in his videos!

We have a new BenderFitness Boot Camp workout for you tomorrow, taught by Jesse, so be sure to check back! Don’t forget to check in and let us know how you are doing with the workouts:

Full Body Workout: 15 Minute Sweat & HIIT

Standard

Hi Everyone,

Today’s workout will a full body, fat burning workout. When I filmed this one I was dripping sweat like crazy! As always, be sure to warm-up and cool down before and after the workout.

This workout begins with a 5 minute Jump Rope Cardio Blast. Personally, I find jump rope very challenging. It’s easier for me to run hard for 5 minutes, than it is to jump rope. It’s important to challenge yourself. Push yourself to go at a challenging pace and get your heart rate up. Pushing your body to work in a variety of ways will make you stronger.

You can repeat this workout up to 3X. The last exercise I did was a Backbend Lift, but I also show an alternate option: Bridge Glute Squeeze. Only do the back bend if you are physically ready for it. Also, take your time getting up after this exercise, and march in place or do a cool-down between rounds to allow your blood pressure to adjust.

Some people are prone to dizziness after quick positional changes. Always listen to your body and adjust accordingly. Marching in place, or doing cool down exercises can help your heart rate return to normal.

When I filmed this routine, I did one round of this workout, and followed it up with a 4.5 mile run outside with Jesse.

I hope you all enjoy the workout!
Melissa
