Hi Everyone!

Have you tried Brussel Sprouts lately? A lot of people have been scared of this delicious veggie since childhood! Maybe you just haven’t had it prepared quite the right way!

I am a big fan of Brussel Sprouts. They are full of Vitamins C & K, potassium, dietary fiber and more! Consuming Brussel Sprouts (and other cruciferous vegetables) has been linked to lower rates of cancer. Vitamin C helps improve skin texture and reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

Are you willing to try it yet?

My husband hates brussel sprouts. He can’t even stand the smell of them. Until I tried this recipe.

He walked into the kitchen raving about how good whatever I was cooking smelled. Knowing that he hates brussel sprouts I wasn’t expecting to have to share. I want to keep my husband healthy so we can have a long & happy life together, so I let him have some. Even though I could have gladly eaten them all by myself.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did! If you have another variation of brussel sprouts that you love feel free to post it in the comments below!

Melissa

Ingredients:

About 12-16 oz. Brussel Sprouts
1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2-3 Tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar
2 Tablespoons Minced Garlic
1 Tablespoon Honey
Sea Salt & Black Pepper to Taste

You can choose to bake your brussels or cook them on the stove.

*Hint: If you are in a hurry, use a bag of frozen steamable brussel sprouts. Pre-cook in the microwave according to directions on the bag. Decrease cooking time on stovetop.

*If you are using fresh brussels, trim the ends and remove any old leaves from the outside. Cut in half for faster cooking.

Stove Top:

-Heat Olive Oil and garlic in pan until garlic is lightly browned.

-Add Balsamic Vinegar and Honey. Allow all ingredients to simmer gently.

-Add brussel sprouts and lightly toss or stir until brussels are coated.

IMG_2960

-Cook 5-7 Minutes until the bottoms of brussels are lightly browned. Turn over & repeat.

-Cook brussels to desired consistency/softness.

-Lightly season with black pepper and sea salt (optional).

Enjoy!

IMG_2961

For Baking:

-Preheat the Oven to 450 degrees F.

-Line a pan with foil and lightly grease with Olive Oil.

-Toss Brussels & all other ingredients in a bowl until evenly coated.

-After coating brussels place them in a single layer in your pan.

-Bake for 20-Minutes or until desired texture is achieved.

-Serve & Enjoy!

15-Minute Better Booty Home Workout & 15-Minute Cardio HIIT

Hi Everyone!

Today’s workout has two parts (be sure to scroll all the way down below the photo tutorial for the second workout)! The first workout is focused on strengthening and shaping your backside. In this routine you will work your butt from multiple angles, which will help strengthen and sculpt your glutes.
I have done a lot of research on the best glute exercises. I am sure you have heard that if you want a better butt you have to squat. That is part of the equation. Squating is actually NOT the best exercise for your butt! You may have also heard “Heavier weights, low reps are the only way to sculpt your butt.” That is also not true.
So what is the truth? Your butt is a series of muscles. To effectively work and strengthen these muscles you need to exercise them in several different planes of motion. They are made up of fast and slow twitch fibers. These muscles respond to both lower rep and higher rep exercises.

GASP! You mean both sides of this argument are correct? I sure do!
Over and over again research has shown that there are positive benefits from incorporating a variety of different movements and styles into workouts.
For more information on Glute Training Myths check out this article from FitnessRX: 6 Glute Training Myths. I love the articles in FitnessRx because they are backed  by Peer Reviewed Scientific Studies. If you scroll to the bottom of the article they have links to all of the articles referenced.
Today’s workout incorporates plyometric movements, static movements, single leg movements, and moves your body through multiple planes to target all of the muscles that make up your backside.
I also posted 15-Minute Cardio HIIT video below for an added cardio/fat burn. You can do 1-2 Rounds per video, or choose to focus on just one workout today. Listen to your body, and select the option that is best for your plan. Total workout time should be between 30-60 minutes.
I hope you enjoy today’s workout combo!

Intense Cardio Interval Workout: VO2 Max Fat Burn

Hi Everyone!

Last night I got in a challenging running workout. You can take this workout to the track (or treadmill). This is a very challenging cardiovascular workout, that will burn fat, strengthen your core, and improve your speed. This workout will help you improve your body’s ability to work at a higher level of effort and improve your V02 Max.
Many people ask Jesse and I how to become a faster runner. To improve your speed you have to get your body used to working at an effort/pace that is faster than what you are currently doing. If you run at a comfortable pace every time you run, you will be great at running that pace. You have to push outside of your comfort zone if you want to improve your speed.
Additionally this workout will help you burn fat, and improve your overall fitness level.
Make sure you do a warm-up before completing this workout, and finish with a cool-down. I did a warm-up jog (2 laps around the track, which equals 800 meters), and 1 mile cool down at an easy pace.
My workout was slightly different last night. Jesse is training for a Half Marathon so filming on week nights when we both get home from work is tough to fit in. Here is the breakdown of the run I did last night:
vo2 max run
It was a VO2 Max workout to improve my running speed, endurance and lactic threshold. It was short, but challenging. On lap 5 a dog decided to run with me so I had to stop (lap 6 I was talking to the dogs owner and forgot to pause my watch). Initially I was going to alternate easy laps with quick laps, but I was in a hurry so I ended up cutting down the recovery time. With running, to get faster you have to run faster and learn to push yourself. Start with smaller chunks of time and expand from there. It doesn’t matter what speed you are starting from. Alternate a hard pace with an easy pace (or full rest break).
I also included a quick Lower Body Workout & Alternate Cardio Workout for those of you that don’t run.
I hope you enjoy this one! It’s tough, but a great challenge!

Hi Everyone!

I took yesterday off from working out. I needed to get a lot of things done around the house after work so I switched up my rest days. Incorporating rest is just as important as getting in your workouts. Rest is when your muscles recover and build.

I did a lot of stretching and practiced my Splits. I am getting closer!

If today isn’t your rest day I have some great workout options for you below. You can do one of these workouts or combine them together. Below you will find videos for a Quick Arms & Back Workout, and a Cardio Core workout I did with Sean Vigue.

I hope you all enjoy the workouts!

Hi Everyone!

Are you ready to work up a sweat and get in a great workout? One round of today’s workout will take 30-Minutes if you do it interval style as I demonstrate in the video below. I have also included options for repetitions with the workout breakdown.

I went through this workout 1X today Interval Style. I plan on repeating it tonight for repetitions to vary the challenge. This workout includes moves to challenge your muscles in all planes of movement. This helps recruit some of the hard to reach muscles & create muscular balance with all over strengthening.

The cardio bursts incorporated throughout the workout help to maximize your fat burn. I wore my heart rate monitor during this one and burned just over 300-Calories during one round of the workout.

I will be working on posting some of the recipes that were requested on Facebook & instagram. I plan on sharing more healthy eating and meal prep ideas. I placed my first food order through Thrive Market today. You can click on the link to find more information here. I will be reviewing the service after I get my first order.

Have fun with today’s workout!

Hi Everyone!

Organic Foods at Wholesale Prices….Sounds pretty good to me! I am trying out Thrive Market. It’s an online grocery store that specializes in Organic items. Think Whole Foods meets Costco. As someone who works full time, blogs, works out after work, runs, and enjoys spending time with family and friends, I have to admit the convenience of online shopping is very appealing to me.

Time is a precious commodity. Time saved on shopping means more time for life! I am really excited to try it out, and let you all know how how the process goes!

Like Costco, Thrive Market has an annual membership fee ($59.95 per year, which breaks down to $5 per month). However, there is a free trial for the first 30-Days. I just placed my first order within the 30-Day Trial. You also get an extra 25% off on your first order when you sign up.

The products available at Thrive Market are 25-50% below market prices, and 15-25% lower than other online retailers. I did some online comparison shopping to double check their claims, and the savings are as advertised! There are more than 3000 organic, non-GMO, healthy products to choose from. The products range from food staples, to tea, vitamins, protein powders, non-toxic cleaning supplies, baby items, beauty products, and sustainable home care items. They carry many products that I normally purchase.

Thrive_HeroBanner

The free trial doesn’t start until you place your first order, and you don’t need to submit credit card information to sign up. Signing up will allow you to browse the products & see if the membership is right for your personal shopping needs. You only put in payment information if you decide to place an order.

You can custom search products based on categories of interest: Gluten Free, Paleo, Vegan, Raw, and more.  Many of the Brand Names you find at your local Organic food stores are available in this online Market Place.

I also like that all Thrive is 100% Carbon Neutral. All packaging, boxes and inserts are made from recycled paper, and are recyclable.

Have you tried Thrive Market? If so what do you think? I will update everyone on my experience when my first order arrives! I’m hoping for a great experience that will cut down on my grocery shopping time! If you want  to try Thrive, check it out HERE.

Melissa

DISCLOSURE: If you use a link from this page to sign up and eventually purchase a membership, I do get a small commission for referring you. That said, I only recommend products and businesses that I use myself and believe in.

Hi Everyone!

Who is up for some tummy time? Everyone wants a strong core, and sexy abs. This workout will definitely challenge every part of your core. Say goodbye to love handles and muffin tops, and hello to a tight, toned stomach.

When working the core, it’s important to strengthen all of the muscles of your abdomen, while simultaneously burning any fat that is hiding your abs. This workout incorporates moves that tone your muscles, and challenge your cardiovascular system at the same time.

I went through this workout twice, and followed it with 2 miles on the treadmill to add some extra cardio to my day.

I find that the more consistent my workouts are, the more healthy the rest of my choices are as well. Working out can make you more aware of what your body needs. Be sure to listen!

I am filming new workouts today so be sure to check back! I will also be posting some of the recipes you requested.

Enjoy the workout,

Melissa

30-Minute Home Dumbbell Workout for Arms, Back & Legs

Hi Everyone!

This is a much more traditional workout than you are probably used to from me. :) It’s a dumbbell workout that can be done in a gym or at home. I don’t belong to a gym, so I modified my workout room a little bit.

If you don’t have the equipment I used for this workout, don’t worry. I have some suggestions.

In this workout I used: dumbbells, jump rope, and dip station.

If you don’t have dumbbells you can use soup cans or water jugs. No jump rope? Substitute high knees or jumping jacks. No dip station? You can use a pull up bar or substitute wide armed decline push-ups (feet up on something, hands on the ground). Remember, no gym? No excuses! I haven’t belonged to a gym in years, and do all of my workouts at home.

This workout can be done alone, or in addition to a run. If you are training for racing and increasing your race pace this workout is most effective when sandwiched by runs. For example: 1-2 Mile Run (depending on level of ability), workout, 1-2 Mile Run Cool Down.

If you are training for fitness or weight loss: warm up, complete the workout, and complete with a 1-3 mile run. Don’t forget, this workout is effective on it’s own as well. Listen to your body and work at your current ability level.

I hope you enjoy today’s workout!
Melissa

Hi Everyone!

This workout is focused on the lower body. You can complete this workout for reps or as an interval workout. The breakdown for each technique, and the workout video are both below.

I followed this routine with 2 miles on the treadmill, which took me 14 minutes, and 30 seconds to complete. I did the first mile at a 7.5 min/mile pace, and then sped up the second mile. It felt great to do a short, but quick run. It was also a good reminder to me that getting in some cardio doesn’t have to take a long time. Jump Roping, or running can be a quick addition of cardio to any workout. You can always add my 10-Minute Jump Rope Workout to any workout as a Bonus Cardio Blast. You can find it here: 10-Minute Jump Rope Workout.

When I first started running I focused on time instead of mileage. My first goal was to be able to run for 20 minutes without stopping to walk. If you have never run before it’s a good way to build, and it also let’s you track your progress, as you get closer and closer to your goal.

This workout is focused on toning, and shaping the lower body. There are plenty of exercises focused on strengthening your calves, thighs, and butt incorporated into this routine. These moves help sculpt the lower body. Increasing strength in your knees, ankles, and hips can improve your stability and decrease your risk of falls or joint injuries later in life.

It is important to maintain balance in your body, and strengthen all of your muscles. Often, people will train one “problem” muscle group to the exclusion of others. It is far more effective to train your entire body, as the increased muscle and strength will improve your metabolism, fat burning, and the overall look of your body. Focus on your overall fitness and the aesthetic results will follow. I feel strongly that your body shouldn’t just look good, it should be strong, capable, and functional.

Enjoy the workout, and have a great day. I will see you later with a new workout. :)

Hi Everyone!

Are you ready to work your entire body? Today’s workout will help shape and sculpt everything! In this workout I used a bench for the Decline Pushup and a barbell for the Warrior Deadlift. If you don’t have weights you can complete the deadlift with body weight only. For the decline pushup you can use a chair, step or other sturdy surface. If you don’t have access to anything you can do a regular Spiderman Pushup.

I haven’t had time to post yesterday’s workout breakdown, but I will be working on that tonight. In the mean time here is a great throw back workout. I completed this one for reps and one round took me 23 Minutes.

Below I have listed the options for reps or intervals so you can customize this workout to your needs. Sometimes I like to go through my workouts for reps instead of time because I often find it more challenging. You can keep up the cardio burn by moving as quickly as you can from one exercise to the next.

Have fun with this one! Let’s keep getting healthier and stronger together every day!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re ready to workout! Today’s workout is focused on strengthening and sculpting the core. I have also included two cardio videos below if you would like to add a bonus cardio burn. A strong core will help you with any workout you do.

There are many reasons to strengthen your core beyond the aesthetic.

A Stronger core means:
Better Posture
Less Chance of Back Injury
Better Balance
Improved Athletic Performance
Improved Biomechanics-leading to less chance of injury to your knees or hips.
Improved Breathing

I am going to be writing some new articles, and doing another Q & A video. If you have any questions post them here or on my Facebook page.

I paired today’s workout with a long (4-mile) walk outside. Yesterday I did a 7-Mile run and stepped on a street hockey ball. I turned my ankle. It’s a little bit sore today so I wanted to keep my workout low impact to prevent any problems.

I apologize for the lighting in today’s video! Jesse was out doing a 15-Mile run so I set up the camera to film myself. I wasn’t able to monitor the lighting. I tried to edit the video enough so you can see all of the movements clearly. Gambit enjoyed being a guest star today.

Have fun!

Good Morning!

I hope you’re ready to get in a great workout today! This workout takes 19-Minutes to complete one round. This is a great fat burner, and will have your heart rate up & body working hard in no time.

During this workout focus on getting in as many reps as you can during each interval while maintaining good form. Less reps with better form will help you achieve better results. During exercise you always want to move through the full range of motion to maximize the benefits of each exercise.

If you aren’t ready to do this as an interval workout you can complete the workout for reps.

Beginner: 10 Reps
Intermediate: 15 Reps
Advanced: 20 Reps

Sometimes I like to do one round timed, and one for reps. Both techniques challenge the body differently. Pick whichever style is best suited for you and your workout goals.

Yesterday I did a 7-Mile run outside. I’m planning on doing another half marathon in October so I am working on building up my mileage.

I hope you all enjoy today’s workout & get in a great sweat! Thanks for joining me. Let’s keep getting stronger and healthier every day!

Hi Everyone!

Today’s workout is focused on the core. This workout incorporates a lot of plank variations, because it is one of the best exercises for strengthening the core.

If you have problems with your wrists you can modify the workout by completing the plank on your forearm. Keeping your hand and wrist in a neutral position decreases the amount of pressure on the carpal tunnel. Another option, is utilizing stationary pushup bars or dumbbells to hold onto during your plank (as long as your wrist/hand form a straight line).

I planned on filming a new workout after work yesterday, but I came home insanely tired. I decided to go for a walk instead so I didn’t wear myself down even more.

My movement for the day, including a 4 mile walk after work.

I hope you all enjoy this workout!

*If the plank variations are to difficult, an alternative option is to hold a static plank. Choose a length of time that is challenging for you. As you build strength with correct form you will be able to progress to the more difficult variations.

Better Booty Home Workout to Sculpt & Shape Your Backside

Hi Everyone!
Today’s workout is focused on strengthening and shaping your backside.

I hope you enjoy it!
Melissa

Hi Everyone!

I have a brand new workout for you! Today’s workout is a Cardio Fat Burn Workout. One round takes 15-Minutes. You can repeat this workout if you want to increase the challenge.

I found today’s workout very challenging. My thighs were burning like crazy and I had to stop a few times. Remember, it’s okay to struggle. It’s okay to breath hard, and take rest breaks, as long as you push yourself to get back into it as soon as you are able to. These workouts make you stronger and improve your cardiovascular fitness. Through consistency we become stronger and more efficient with our workouts.

Burn after 1 Round of today’s workout. There is also some after-burn. I didn’t stop my watch immediately after finishing the round.

I did push through to complete a second round. I was exhausted all day today. It took a cup of coffee and a lot of will power to get myself moving when I got home from work today. I am glad I did it! I felt so much better, and had much better energy after getting through two rounds of today’s workout.

Hi Everyone!

Today’s workout is a throwback workout (the video is below). It was Day 2 of my  30 Day Workout Challenge. The focus of the challenge is completing a minimum of 15 minutes of exercise per day for 30-days. I will be filming a new workout today.

First I am headed to a family brunch, so it won’t be posted until a bit later. For those of you who prefer to workout in the AM, I think you are going to enjoy this workout!

If you want to start with Day 1 of the 30-Day Challenge you can find that here: Day 1: 15 Minute HIIT Core Fat

This workout is a 20-Minute Interval Workout. I modified this workout from one I did with my Boot Camp Class. Cardio bursts are interspersed with longer intervals for maximum repetitions. The workout has three sections: lower body, core and arms. This routine will work your entire body and burn fat at the same time.

For your cardio you can do: jumping rope, high knees, jumping jacks, froggers, or cardio of your choice. When I filmed this workout I followed it up with a run on the treadmill for a bonus cardio burn.

treadmill run photo

I took yesterday off from filming because I did an evening 5K. For me I was focusing on running the race based on how my body was feeling and ignoring my watch. Sometimes when I check my watch to much during a race I end up running an interval workout and wearing myself out by training to speed up or slow down to maintain a specific time. I wasn’t expecting to win anything, but I came home with a medal!

Our friend, Wes, won first place overall. Wes and Jesse have been training together, and Wes has been putting in some amazing running and great times! Jesse had to sit this race out due to tightness in his left glute/hamstring. He wasn’t happy about missing the race, but better a missed 5K than a lingering injury! We are focusing on stretching. I will be sharing that routine.

I hope you all enjoy the workout!
Melissa

Hi Everyone!

Today’s workout is challenging! Grab a pair of dumbbells and get ready to sweat! No dumbbells? You can still do the exercises with body weight, but the dumbbells definitely increase the challenge!

This workout is focused on burning fat and sculpting your core. I really felt the burn during this workout, and I was dripping sweat by the end of it. If you want to see great results in your midsection this is a great routine to bookmark. You will work your abs from every angle, and burn fat at the same time.

Remember to warm-up before the workout, and cool down afterwards. It will help maximize your results and you will get the most out of your workout. If you aren’t sure what to do for a warm-up try this 10-Minute Jump Rope Workout.

During the High Knees exercise your biceps are engaged in an isometric exercise (the joint isn’t moving). My arms were burning, so I alternated between keeping my elbows flexed and extended.

I followed this workout with some stretching. I am focusing on improving my flexibility. I have noticed some tightness in my hips and back, and I want to keep my mobility and range of motion at it’s maximum potential.

I am filming a new workout tonight, so that should be up for tomorrow morning! Have fun!

Enjoy today’s workout!
Melissa

How to Build Lean Muscle While Decreasing Body Fat: Tips for Exercise, Diet & Supplements

Written By: Jonathan Shoop

Hello everyone! It has been far too long since I wrote last. Let me start by saying I hope everyone who reads this is doing well and is enjoying life! I am not an medical doctor, please consult with your physician before beginning any exercise or supplement routine.

Today I want to write about the topic of building muscle mass without gaining fat. If you follow my directions and are diligent about exercising, diet, and supplementation then you should actually be building lean muscle and DECREASING body fat! Yes I said it. Build muscle AND lose fat at the same time. Now I know what some or most of you have heard… that it is impossible to do that without using anabolic steroids. Or that to gain muscle you must go into a “gaining phase” and that will likely include gaining fat. Well I’m here to tell you that those ideas are simply untrue.

Let’s start with exercise. Resistance training is CRUCIAL to gaining muscle tissue. Whether it be lifting weights, Melissa’s at home workouts, circuit training, or other bodyweight exercises. Putting strain on your muscles everyday is what’s going to be what causes microfiber tears on your muscle tissue. These microfiber tears are what we will then go back and repair using proper diet and supplementation, resulting in… muscle growth!

yoga with weights

My suggestion for someone who lifts weights is to lift 4-6 times a week for no less than an hour at a time. You need to push yourself everyday and keep track of how much you are lifting to help keep the progress going in the following months/years. I would then also throw in a 2-3 high intensity cardio workouts (no longer than 30 minutes) after lifting or on your “off day”. Melissa has a variety of workouts for you to do on this site so I will leave it to you to find the ones you like.

If you are doing Melissa’s workouts, you can stick to one or two a day but I would really push you to shoot for 45-60 minutes.

Now comes nutrition and supplementation. First of all and most importantly, you need to be keeping track of the amount of calories that you eat throughout the day and the amount of calories you burn. This is absolutely CRITICAL to obtain the best and quickest results. Melissa and I actually met through our use of the website myfitnesspal.com – this is a great resource for logging what you eat throughout the day as well as inputting your exercise.

cauliflower

If you are overweight and needing to lean up, set the setting of how active you are throughout the day one notch lower than what it would suggest for you. If you are trying to gain muscle and have trouble doing so, go with what they suggest. This is the amount of calories you burn normally in a 24 hour period with no exercise. When you exercise, try using a heart rate monitor or something else that keeps track of your activity/calories you burn. You need to add those calories back into your daily amount, this will give you more to eat, but you need them to build that muscle!

In terms of calories, I would suggest starting with what myfitnesspal.com suggests for your overall calorie intake and then adding your exercise calories. Do this for 2 weeks and monitor your weight during that time period. What we are looking for is a baseline number for your calories. If you’ve lost or gained weight during that time period and being diligent with keeping track and being on point with your consumption and expenditure of calories, you should adjust it from there depending on the gain or loss. If your weight has stayed the same during that 2 weeks then that is perfect. That is your maintenance calories (the amount of calories your body needs to maintain weight). Our goal is to gain muscle, for this I would add 250 calories into your daily consumption on top of your maintenance amount. If the weight isn’t coming on after 2-4 weeks of doing this, keep increasing your calories incrementally every 2-4 weeks. Gaining muscle takes time and patience. Keep at it and keep pushing yourself and expectations in your workouts!

protein-2B2

The supplementation side of it is what is going to help you maximize your efforts! Think about it this way, with a car, you can get from point A to point B. The difference is how quickly you can get there and your gas mileage. You want to get there fast and you want to get there efficiently. This is the whole point of sports nutrition supplements. They will help you get there faster and with greater efficiency.

There is a plethora of information and products to take on the market. I have been a consultant for various nutrition stores throughout my years of working out and have chosen to carry specific products from specific companies because of their quality and results.

Here is a quick rundown of what I take/recommend for someone who works out 3+ times a week for 30-90 minutes.

*Note from Melissa: Be sure to check any supplementation program with your doctor. Each individual has different needs and tolerances. It is important to customize your program. If you have questions, ask a professional and be honest about your health history.*

Before a workout:

60-90 minutes before workout: Depending on size of the person: A meal consisting of 2 eggs and about 20-30 grams of carbohydrates such as fruit or oatmeal. If you do not have time because of work or waking up so early, that is OK but I would suggest then a quick protein shake of whey isolate or egg white protein.

15-30 minutes before workout:

  • Thermogenic, fat burner, or preworkout drink – something that will get you going and help you crank out that workout. Be careful with your own tolerance to stimulants and do not combine them unless you have done it before.
  • Along with any of those stimulants take 10 grams of branch chained amino acids. (BCAAs for short, they consist of Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine). This helps protect your muscle tissue from being used as energy, helps with recovery, and helps fight fatigue during the workout. I like BCAA Fuel.

After the workout:

  • Take 20-50 grams of protein from egg whites (my favorite is Muscle Egg flavored egg whites) or a whey isolate protein (Isolate Fuel or Iso Fuel Naturals) – again, the amount is dependant upon the weight and dietary needs of the individual.
  • Glutamine complex 6-10 grams – my favorite is Glutaplex. This helps speed up the repair of muscle tissue which helps with growth and also cuts down soreness.
  • Depending on dietary needs you can also take 20-40 grams of carbohydrates such as berries, oatmeal, or a powdered carbohydrate like Carbalean by Nutracore.

Everyday essentials:

  • Liquid or powdered form complete multi-vitamin. Don’t waste time or money on hard tablet form multi-vitamins as these are hard to digest, may upset your stomach, and your body only absorbs about 10% of a hard tablet multi-vitamin.
  • Essential fatty acids, EFAs, fish oils, or krill oil. Essential fatty acids are the best thing for your heart health. EFAs help lower blood pressure, raise good HDL cholesterol, and lower bad LDL cholesterol.
  • CLA – conjugated linoleic acid, from safflower oil. This is a fatty acid that helps your body to burn white adipose tissue. White adipose tissue is the fat around our midsections. I get mine from Pure Life Nutra because it is composed of only safflower oil, resulting in high purity and concentration. (purelifenutra.com)
  • L-carnitine – this helps speed up your body’s ability to burn fat. I get mine from Pure Life Nutra because of it’s purity.
