Today’s workout is quick and efficient. It’s only 16-Minutes per round, but it had me sweating like crazy! I used a dumbbell for the first exercise, but you can choose to make it body weight only if you prefer.
I utilized High Knees are my cardio burst between exercises. If you prefer Jump Rope, Mountain Climbers, Jumping Jacks, or another form of cardio you can switch it up. Just push yourself to keep the pace/intensity high.
I posted three videos below. The first is a 5-minute Warm Up that you can do before the workout so you are ready to maximize your intensity. The second is the workout video, and the third video was yesterday’s challenge move. This month I will be posting one challenge move per day for the Lower Body. You can add that exercise onto your workout of the day (if you choose to accept the challenge!)
Jesse and I had our first group yoga class of the semester last night. We normally teach a Yoga Class and a Boot Camp class each semester at a local university’s wellness center. With the baby, we decided to limit it to just one class this year. I paired one round of the 16-Minute workout with an hour of Yoga. It was a pretty intense yoga class, so we worked up a great sweat there too.
If you want to pair your workout with Yoga, you can pick one of my yoga routines here: https://www.benderfitness.com/category/yoga. I am working on a new collaboration with Sean Vigue. I have had some great workouts with him in the past, and I am excited to film a new one with him.
I hope you all enjoy today’s workout!

Is the HIIT workout posted on YouTube? I cannot find it.
I accidentally had it set to private! I just set it to public. 🙂
Really enjoyed the workout – thanks so much! Maverick is so cute in the background…makes me smile, he’s grown so much! For the life of me I couldn’t get to my feet with those sit-up to standing exercise…had to sneak to use a hand to help lol.
thanks melissa. this was a great workout. I really like that you put the warm-up with the workout. I usually skip it.
Thanks for the yoga link! I was just thinking I’d like to incorporate more into my workout. I am on day 20 of your ab sculpt challenge and love it. Question, I thought at one point I saw a 30 day bikini challenge, am I mistaken? Can you recommend another 30 day challenge that might be similar? I want to keep up the momentum and 30 days seems to be a really attainable time frame for me. Also loved the link to the 30 day motivational speech you posted. Thanks for all you do!
Melissa I’m not trying to loose weight but tighten and build some lean muscle, I run on the weekends a long easy run and a shorter more intense one, should I still incorporate cardio in my workouts. I’m 5’8″ and 140 lbs
If you are doing the HIIT and you aren’t trying to lose weight you should be fine without adding extra cardio. The HIIT workouts are great because they help burn fat, while maintaining lean muscle mass, which helps you to tighten up all over. If you notice that you are losing with the HIIT you can either take out the cardio bursts, or replace them with something like a squat & press with a dumbbell to add more resistance training. 🙂
Can’t wait to do these two workouts 🙂 gonna do 3 rounds and of course to the challenge dead lift. Love this exercise 🙂 Glad you are back Melissa. Love your workouts
